From the moment we stepped into Penzion Mayer, we were embraced by the warm hospitality and charm of this hidden gem in Lake Bled. the complimentary welcome drink set the tone for a truly romantic getaway, celebrating our anniversary against the idyllic backdrop of the lake. the innkeepers, like old friends, ensured every moment was special, even offering us a ride to the bus station when it was time to depart. the attention to detail extended to the room itself - a cozy retreat with a kitchenette for leisurely mornings and a balcony to soak in the stunning views. Every morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast spread that was a feast for the senses. the homemade goodies, fresh smoothies, and an array of fresh fruits were a testament to the thought and care that went into every bite. Fuelled by this culinary delight, we set out to explore the activities in-and-around Bled, taking advantage of the free bikes provided by Penzion Mayer to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the surroundings. the Penzion's location proved ideal for our adventures, with easy access to the nearby hilltop town of Radovlicja and the breathtaking Vintgar Gorge. the combination of historic charm and modern amenities, from the flat-screen TV to the soundproofing, made our retreat truly unforgettable. As an architect drawn to the Mediterranean allure, Penzion Mayer captured my heart with its blend of natural beauty and historic significance. the terrace and garden provided peaceful sanctuaries to unwind after a day of exploration, while the proximity to key sights like Bled Island and the nearby ski slopes added a sense of adventure to our retreat. This independent, family-run guest house is a true gem in the heart of Slovenia, offering a glimpse into the region's rich heritage and warm hospitality.
